They are not people. They have no consciousness. Immortality doesn't apply because there is no life involved.

Ahh, so you know the answer in the context of the forums which you are discussing this.
You're just having a friendly little mental circle-jerk based on assumptions and conjecture about reality then?
Perhaps you're the one in the wrong place - I therefore invite you to shut up. :)

Or in another example each 'discipline' can present its own arguments and theories independent from each other. No reason this topic therefore has to be limited to a scientific standpoint as science still doesn't understand consciousness even though it is coming closer to understanding the brain and its various functions.
This all means that whilst poster A may be talking from a scientific point of view, poster B may be talking from a philosophical point of view; and this may not be clear to poster C who assumes they are both talking from the same point of view. Hence wires get crossed.
Funny, what I read from Mendolous was that most of this discussion is just spouting opinions and beliefs and has very little to do with any real structured thought process.
You can talk from whatever point of view you want, but until you lay out your assumptions, and then really examine them, you're just exercising your lungs and making a lot of noise for all the good it does.
